HOW A SINGLE PAIR OF PANTS BECAME A MULTI-MILLION dollar OUTDOOR BRAND.

Andrew Gibbs-Dabney walked up to our booth at Outdoor Retailer in 2017 with an idea and not much else. Eight years later, LIVSN Design is a category-defining outdoor brand and weʼve been their full product team the entire way.

01

Chapter One - First Meeting

The
Starting
Point.

He believed there was room in the outdoor market for a better outdoor pant. One built around sustainability and transparency, with materials and construction the existing brands hadn’t been willing to invest in.

He had a vision, conviction and persistence. What he didn’t have was a product team, factory relationships, technical development experience, or clear path from idea to retail-ready product. He came to us because he needed all of it.

We spent the rest of that day walking the show together. Andrew pointed out the brands he respected and the ones he didn’t, and articulated exactly what he believed was missing. By the end of the show we had the foundation of working agreement and the start of a relationship that would last the next eight years.

Chapter two - the build

The
Build.

Designing around the fabric.

We built the Flex Canvas Pant the way a real product team builds. Start with designing around the fabric, refine the fit obsessively, and only commit to a factory once the technical brief was airtight.

Andrews’s brand thesis demanded materials and construction the existing outdoor brands hadn’t been willing to invest in: sustainable fabric, transparent supply chain, and performance details that hold up to real use.

We took him through five prototype rounds, refined it, construction details, and trim until every detail represented the brand he wanted to build.

That patience compounded. The audience Andrew built around the Flex Canvas pant grew from his first kickerstarter to subsequent campaigns, and his customers’ response made clear his thesis was right.
From there we expanded the line with him; flex canvas shorts, the lighter EcoTrek pant and short, women’s versions, then back into tops with technical shirting, flannels. and Ventile jacket using Swiss fabric, wool insulation, and silk lining. The kind most brands wouldn’t even attempt.

RUNNING THE FULL PRODUCT SIDE

One Team, end to end.

From day one, we ran the entire product side of LIVSN’s business, design, development fabric, and trim sourcing, factory sourcing, all supplier communication, and oversight of production and shipping.

That coverage let him build his organization around what he didn’t need to hire: marketing, sales, operations. A small team, punching well above it weight in a category usually owned by brands with large internal product departments.

Chapter three - TUrning Point

Turning
Point.

ON THE ROAD TOGETHER

Year six. Andrew's first trip to the factories.

For the first six years, we made the trips alone. Sample reviews, factory negotiations, supply-chain coordination. It was our work and Andrew trusted us.

In year six, he came with us. He met the factory owners face-to-face, sat in on negotiations, and saw the production process first hand. The trip changed how he thought about his supply chain and gave him the confidence and context to operate as more sophisticated brand owner.

In year seven, we made the same trip with LIVSN’s newly hired internal product lead. A deliberate handoff so she could begin carrying the relationships, process, and institutional knowledge forward.

Chapter four - The Outcome

The
Outcome.

WHAT ANDREW BUILT

A multi-million dollar outdoor brand.

Across eight years, LIVSN grew from a single kickstarter sample to a multi-product outdoor brand with category reputation in the outdoor industry. Creating a brand that customers identify with, not just buy from.

The product line spans men’s and women’s bottoms, technical tops, and high-end outwear. The brand sits credibly alongside legacy outdoor names. And Andrew built it with a team focused on what only he could do, the brand itself, while we ran the product side.
