Design:
The whole reason we find ourselves where we are, is for the sole purpose of being different. Not wanting to sit through another clothing company appointment, at another trade show, looking at an identical garment we just saw ten minutes ago at another company, except this one has their brand tag on it. Looking beyond what is, and find what could be. Forgetting the way it has been done, and focusing on how we could change the perception.

We are here for brands trying to make a big impact in their industry, or break into a new category. WERX Design can offer you our design knowledge from technical garments, to fashion forward styling. The combination works as well in categories we love.

We first talk with our clients about their specific goals, then go back to our lab and conceptualize inspiration boards in the angle we are seeing the direction going. Once agreed by our clients, we either hand sketch or illustrate initial concepts for review, and work hand in hand as we proceed. From here we create detailed tech sketch illustrations are done in a format that can translate easily to the factory partners for development. When needed, we have capabilities to mock up specific features, or garments, but you’ll have to read more in the development section.

We design by doing, and what we haven’t done, we talk to the people who are experts, and then go out and do ourselves.

Trend Research:

We’re out there in the scene talking to shops, consumers, and our panel of professional athletes, finding out what their needs are, and how to build better product. We’re also traveling constantly to find the next big thing, and keeping on top of what people are saying they love now.

Means of Trend Research

Feet: Active attendance to industry events, from trade shows, X-Games, local mountain AM contests, music festivals, and more.
Eyes: Continually watching through blogs, trend services, color services, in-store domestic & international shopping trips, on-mountain participation, etc.
Ears: With a testing and feedback panel, University Team partners, and professional athlete partners – feedback is quick to come by. We listen to what true users want.


Color Theory:
Color can make or break a great design. For that reason we make sure you are on point with trend, but speaking into
your true brand identity. Having a strong Brand Color point of view, can set you apart in the marketplace, and be an
identifier for consumers when they walk into a shop cluttered by heavy, bold colors, patterns, stripes, and prints.
We’re also here to create forward patterns for the outer and inner face of garments.


Development:

Tech Packs: Designs don’t make themselves, and without the integration of detailed tech packs, your ideas would not be properly executed. Delivery of designs with full tech packs that will maintain the integrity of the concepts. From there, working with the factory via virtual communication, to making factory visits to handle it all at once.

Fabric Development: We handle development of new fabric concepts with domestic and Asian mill partners, and we work with trim and finishers as well. From developing a new stretch nylon for technical boardshorts, a cost effective 3-layer shell fabric for aggressive snowsports, creating a high-end bike chamois in Asia, to creating a new high tencel strength poly that resists dirt, grease, and grim for motocross riders.

Fit is King: Proper fit of the garments will be done by in-house fit sessions, or travel to your location to carry it out there. Basic pattern making skills, helps the developers and factories understand how to correct, and maintain the brand fit point of view.

Testing: One of the most important aspects of building technical garments is the testing. From in the lab, to on the mountain, WERX has a dedicated team that will give detailed feedback and results.
